Annual #Active4ALS Fitness Fundraising Campaign
In 2016, Team Active hosted our first company-wide fundraiser to raise money and awareness for Augie’s Quest to end ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease. All funds raised through Augie’s Quest benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute, an aggressive, cure-driven effort focused on finding treatments and cures for ALS. Highlights of our first company-wide fundraiser event included:
- $11,326 Raised Across the Active Network
- 300 Participants
- 27 Classes
- 11 Active Locations
- 4 States
- 1 Active Community
In January of 2017, we built on this momentum with our 2nd Annual Active for ALS Campaign. By sponsoring an Active Donation Match for #GivingTuesday and adding even more incentives for members and employees to give generously, we raised $20,000 toward the fight against ALS. Together, we can raise even more in 2018 to support research and those awaiting a cure – all while building community and having some FUN getting #Active4ALS!
Video Contest Donation
As the proud winner of IHRSA’s #WhyGetActivevideo campaign, Team Active was pleased to secure a $500 donation for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Marin & Petaluma. We thank you, our members, for inspiring our video and our mission to improve lives, deliver real results, and inspire healthier communities.
“We are honored to have won the IHRSA #WhyGetActive Video Contest,” says Bill McBride, Active’s president & CEO. “We believe in IHRSA’s mission and our mission. Our team had a lot of fun creating the video as it allowed us to show our core values in doing what we do.”
The #WhyGetActive video contest was sponsored by the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) who challenged clubs to share the good work they were doing in their communities in a one-minute video, using the hashtag #WhyGetActive. We know that building healthy, active communities means investing in the causes outside our clubs’ walls. That’s why each local club team is empowered to give back and serve its community. In 2016 alone, Active Sports Clubs contributed $13,535 worth of in-kind and monetary donations, benefiting local organizations like Girls on the Run, the Community for Open Recovery, Tel Hi Neighborhood Center, the Marin School of the Arts, and many more.
